The 20-year-old Nick was the target of constant attacks against the Sydney Swans on the weekend with multiple Collingwood teammates coming to his side.

It resulted in multiple little brawls breaking out as bodies were thrown across the turf of the MCG. The AFL handed out fines to nine players with each copping $1000 whack to the wallet.

Josh however was put to the task to see if his little brother would instead cover the fine for him, considering he only got it after standing up for him.

To make his brazen act appear even more legitimate, Josh dropped Collingwood’s football operations manager Shannon Collins in on the act.

“Shannon wanted to know, with the fine, do you reckon there’s any way you could halve it with me?” Josh said.

Without a second thought however, Nick agreed to pony up and help his brother out.

“Yeah, yeah, of course,” he said.

Josh carried on with the act, keen to rub it in just a tad further.

“Good, because I did have your back pretty quick and I just thought, yeah, I wouldn’t have got the fine otherwise,” he said.

But without being prompted Nick offered to not only cover his brother’s fine, he was intent on paying for Brayden Maynard’s as well. This led Josh to push his luck and see if Nick would just cover the entirety of his fee.

“Well, if you’re good for it, can you get the whole thing? Maybe you should get the whole thing, tell Shann that you’ll pay for it. That’d be great, I appreciate it, that’d be good. I’m actually a bit low on cash right now so it’d actually work out pretty well,” he said.

The prank came to an end after that with Nick picking up that his brother was acting off as the room filled with laughter.

The physical treatment dished out by the Swans to Nick was widely condemned with former North Melbourne player David King saying they had taken it “too far”.

“This is the Daicos conundrum for all coaches – do you tag him, how far do you go, what do you give up in terms of how you want to play vs holding true?” King said on Fox Footy’s First Crack.

“I think it’s gone too far … I reckon it’s lost balance and become all consuming.

“Clarke comes in to do that job all day … He still finishes with 25!

“(Daicos) is calm enough, 30 games in, to be able to handle it all day.

“It’s almost at the stage where all clubs just say, ‘we just have to play’.

“Today, (the Daicos tag) blew up. You may defeat one, but you don’t defeat the 22.

“What this kid’s doing is ridiculous.”
