On Tuesday, reports of an active shooter incident prompted police to respond to a residence near Union Hall, White Oak Rd.

Authorities discovered that the suspect was carrying a weapon into an occupied house. The offender reportedly shot at the responding officers several times.

One policeman was hit and sent to the adjacent Tennova Healthcare facility, where his status was declared as stable. The Clarksville Police Department stated in a statement:

“A perimeter is now on Union Hall Drive and White Oak Drive. A barricaded person who is a threat and has fired several shots at police officers is being talked down by police.

A police officer has been hurt, although his wounds are not thought to be life-threatening. Union Hall Road and Needmore Road are now closed.

Residents in the Union Hall/White Oak Rd. CPD is advising the area to stay inside their homes and the general public to keep away from the area.

It is suggested that any reporters covering the incident proceed to the Hobby Lobby parking lot behind Texas Road House. Updates on this occurrence will be given as they become available.”

Residents were advised to remain indoors as law enforcement officials continued to negotiate.
