The actress got candid about portraying the beloved Princess Diana, while a guest on Jimmy Kimmel not too long ago. Here’s what she had to say!
As it turns out, Kristen Stewart feels rather ‘protective’ of the late Lady Di and she explained why during the interview.
It’s safe to say that a lot of actors would feel really pressured when taking on such a huge role.
After all, Princess Diana was loved and respected by many to the point that she was even dubbed as the ‘People’s Princess!’
But as far as Kristen Stewart is concerned, playing her makes the star ‘stand at attention in the best way’ instead of stressing her out.
Mentioning how the whole world loved the royal, she stressed that ‘I feel sort of the same way about her, and it happened really quickly. I didn’t grow up with her maybe in the same way. I was really young when she passed away.’
Kristen went on to recall how she’d never seen so many floral tributes than back in 1997 when the Princess tragically passed away.
‘I’ve never seen so many in one place. I was really young [and] didn’t really know what was going on. But now, it’s hard not to feel protective over her. I mean, she was, like, so young and obviously she comes out to here,’ the actress shared with the host.
Deadline was the first to break the news of her casting in a movie about Princess Diana back in July.
It will, apparently, be set over only one weekend during which the royal will be shown realizing her marriage with Prince Charles was not going to work out and that she had to walk on her own path instead.

‘My movie takes place over, like, three days, and it’s this, like, really poetic internal imagining of what that might have felt like rather than, like, giving new information. We sort of don’t have a mark to hit. We just also love her,’ Stewart said.
