Daya is a force to be reckoned with. At just 18-years-old, she is a multi-platinum, Grammy Award winning artist who recently appeared on Billboard’s annual ’21 Under 21′ list for the second consecutive year. She is also the youngest member of Forbes’ annual ’30 Under 30′ list.

After making her music breakthrough with her solo single ‘Hide Away’ in 2015, Daya rose to global fame after featuring on The Chainsmokers’ 5x platinum track, ‘Don’t Let Me Down’. Her debut album Sit Still, Look Pretty is also RIAA gold-certified.

Now, Daya is ready to blow the music scene away once more with the release of ‘New’. The track marks the first new music and creative direction from the singer since signing her first major record label deal with to Interscope Records (Polydor in the UK) earlier this year.

‘New’ is a powerful offering from Daya which oozes emotion from the off. Lyrically, she is not afraid to be vulnerable or share her feelings. In the process, she has delivered a track which is bound to resonate with her listeners. Produced by Stargate and Sir Nolan, the track was co-written by Daya, Stargate, Sir Nolan, James Newman & Brett McLaughlin and was recorded at The Stellar House in Venice, California.

Speaking about the track, Daya said: “‘New’ really is the start of something new. It’s a sharper, more direct perspective coming from me. No more talking in circles around my feelings. It’s honest, it’s raw, and it’s emotionally intense. I want it to be something people can cry to or scream out or dance sporadically to. Mainly, something that wakes them from a certain numbness and forces them to feel.”

The music video for ‘New’, directed by Tobias Nathan, sees Daya deliver an equally powerful performance which truly hits home the emotion of the lyrics. Shots of the songstress alone and distressed on a beach at night time are intertwined with happy scenes of her and her on-screen partner.
