Oli, who was born on December 1, 1995, in Farnham, began making videos about BMXing with his friends because he was interested in the sport at the time. He eventually met Tom, the partner with whom he would initially found Mumbo Jumbo. Oli decided to purchase an Xbox 360 because Tom had one. Together with Tom, he began posting Call of Duty videos on websites like AspectDz and DatsikGaming. MrOliBrotherhood was his personal channel at the time, where he only uploaded videos and subscribed to users he liked. All of this changed when he watched a video of Minecraft and concluded that he really liked it, which led him to start playing and producing content for the game.
One of his oldest videos, titled "The Mumbo Jumbo Door! [200,000 Subscribers!]" shows him building the "Mumbo Jumbo door" in a Minecraft let's play. As of June 2022, this video has more than 500,000 views.
On March 30, 2012, Oli started the ThatMumboJumbo channel. The following day, he posted his first video, which has since been delisted. Additionally, he had Tom working on the channel; even though his YouTube name was "Jumbo," Tom went by the name "DaCube." At 200 subscribers, he stopped running the channel, and Mumbo was now in charge of it.
Following Mumbo's ServerCraft series, he began creating videos and later tutorials on Redstone. At the time, he was well-known for his series "60 Second Minecraft," in which he had to construct a Redstone machine in just 60 seconds. His YouTube channel now has 1000 subscribers as a result of this. After Geomine, Mumbo began a series called "Mumbo's World" in early 2013, in which he played a game of survival in his own world. Five months into the series, he had 50,000 subscribers when he decided to end it on Episode 15. He joined Hermitcraft SMP at this time.
Mumbo was asked to join Hermitcraft on June 9, 2013. His first video on the server, HermitCraft: Episode 0 - Welcome Home, was his acceptance of the offer. Since then, he has consistently participated in the group. He is a veteran because he has been playing on the Minecraft server since Season 2. He currently has the most subscribers, making him the most well-known Hermit.
